Today is one of those days where you feel the need to be both joyous and depressed. Why, you ask? Well today is the 25th anniversary of the creation of those cowabunga-tastic amphibian ass-kickers, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That's right, 25 years of eating pizza and living in sewers - and I remember loving these critters as a kid, so how old do I feel right now? Yep, very old.
But then I did say that today is also a day to be joyous and it is because it has just been announced that Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello and Michaelangelo are gearing up for a band-new live-action movie.
You just can't keep a turtle down, it seems. After a hit cartoon show, a run of live-action films in the '80s/'90s and a so-so animated return last year, our half-shell heroes are back, back, back.
According to Variety, a new live-action adventure is being prepped for a 2011 release. Unfortunately, there are no details on what the plot of the new film might be, but it will apparently go back to the original comics for inspiration - which is great news for all true Turtle fans.
